Are you having a hard time defining your vision? Could you use some help to guide this process for you? Would you like to define your vision but don't really know where to start? Here are a few ideas to get you going, have some inspiration and gain momentum to define your exciting, extraordinary and unique vision.

  1. What inspires your senses?

Are you a visual type, more connected to stories, are you attached to meal memories or can easily associate by listening to music maybe? Whatever it is, look for inspiration in these areas, if you feel like you currently lack ideas. Go to a restaurant and taste new meals, listen to a song and pay attention to the lyrics and see what insights you're getting.

  1. Intuitive vision boarding

Buy a bunch of magazines, start looking at them and cut out photos, words or pages that resonate with you. It doesn't have to be rational, go with your feelings. Arrange them together and allow them to create a story for you.

  1. Listen to stories. Read biographies.

Whose life inspire you the most? What role models do you have? Are there any books out there about their lives and works?

For example I like reading about Frida Kahlo's life, like the The Secret Book of Frida Kahlo by Haghenbeck or I find it especially fascinating learning about it through her art.

  1. What your role model-mosaic look like?

What inspires you in other people who you think live an interesting or exciting life? Find bits and pieces and let them inspire your own vision! I follow and get inspiration from high-class coaches, professional athletes, politicians, feminists, activists, as well as I like to have deep conversations with my neighbours, listen to stories form my grandmother and talk to people during my travels to build empowering pieces of their life into what I call a mosaic-role model. You don't have to adore everything in one person, but it's easy to find pieces and parts that are worth considering adding to your created role model.

I got the idea of creating extraordinary birthday celebrations for my family and extraordinary coaching experiences for my clients by Rich Litvin. It was also him who gave me the idea to create my own community - the one I was looking for and craved for a long time.

I learned that nothing is impossible by cheering and watching Eliud Kipchoge live in Berlin breaking the marathon world record in 2022.

I knew that I am not late at all and being an expat may mean that certain life milestones happen later in my life by having an intimate email convo with Eleanor, a terrific web designer living in Munich.

Go to a museum or photography exhibitions, read about the artists' approaches and thoughts and allow them to impact you.

Go to bookshops and just spend an hour there, having insights from books. Gestalten (publisher) and Monocle has cool books that can also give you ideas. Ocelot bookstore in Mitte is also a great place for new ideas.

  1. What is not part of your vision?

If you don't know what can be in your vision, start by excluding what's NOT. No 12-hrs working days, anyone?

  1. Ask

Ask others. Ask your friends: What is your ideal career? Or

Do you know someone who lives an extraordinary life? Would you be willing to introduce me to them? - Then talk to them. Ask them tell their story.

  1. Start by what you're certain about

Start by describing your ideal (work)day instead of a whole vision. Be as detailed as you can. What would you wear? What would you eat for lunch? Who would be the most interesting person on Earth to have a meeting with?

  1. Look back from the future

Imagine that in 20 years someone will do a life interview with you.

In which media will it be? A magazine, a podcast, or a conference? Think about a specific event or magazine! What do you adore or listen to? What would be the interview about?

  1. Use your cycle's power

Visioning may be the easiest when you're having your period. Bleeding is a great time going more inward and listening to what you really want. Read this article about how to use your period to advance in your business.

  1. More and less

Think about you work now.

What do you want MORE of? What do you want LESS of?

  1. Answer powerful questions

Here are 10 to start with:

  1. What are you proud of?

  2. What has been your biggest disappointment?

  3. What words describe how you feel about your career?

  4. What is the compliment or acknowledgement you hear most often about yourself?

  5. What dream of yours is still unfulfilled?

  6. What accomplishment you think must occur during your lifetime so that you’ll consider your life satisfied, fulfilling and well-lived?

  7. What words describe you at your best?

  8. What obstacles or  roadblocks keep you away from being your best?

  9. What are you most uncertain about the present moment?

  10. What are you most sure about the present moment?

Check out these five powerful coaching questions to evoke new insights about what fulfilment looks like to you.

  1. Journal

For a week each day write down a few ideas about whay you want. Set the timer for 15 min and write freely whatever comes. Don't event think about it. At the end of the week, read it out loud to yourself, circle the patterns and ideas you really like.

Most importantly believe that it has in you.

The vision is not something you create. It's something that you evoke, cultivate and nurture by attention, curiosity and connecting to yourself.
